Cressi Mohawk Twin 16mm Speargun - 80cm to 130cm - 80 cm (31.5 in). The Cressi Mohawk Speargun has a point of difference with its powerful twin 16 mm rubber set up. This setup generates more power than a single 16 mm band, or twin 14 mm band, setup. The rubber are made with a dyneema bridle and sit in the double muzzle.

This speargun has been made by Cressi specifically to meet the needs of Australian and South African spearos.

The aluminium barrel has a rail running the length of the barrel for the 7 mm spear to follow which helps with accuracy, however the gun is only as accurate as the user. The single flopper on the spear prevents fish that have been shot from coming off. Attaching the shaft to the gun is a monofiliment attaching to the gun bungee. This is a shock absorber that takes the strain from the shooting line when a fish takes off after it has been hit.

The Cressi Mohawk Speargun has an all metal trigger mechanism including the trigger and line release. Being all metal and no plastic means it will last a lot longer and is more durable to the elements. Make sure you give the entire gun including the trigger mechanism a good wash after every use to remove all salt water and sand. Never leave the spear in the mechanism when it is wet or unclean as this will rust and potentially get stuck.

On the side of the handle is the safety catch that is a small lever that will hold the trigger in place so you can not fire it. Never trust the safety catch, only load the gun once you are ready to shoot as a misfire could be deadly. The Cressi Mohawk Twin 16 mm Speargun is available in five lengths: 80cm, 120cm and 130cm.

The general rule when purchasing a speargun and what length to get is determined on where you will use it. 80 cm to 110 cm is normally used in shallow reef diving as they are shorter and easier to manoeuvre in shallow water. 120 cm to 130 cm is normally used in open water aiming for the larger fish. This is due to them having a longer range which you need with bigger fish. This is a general rule though!

Extras: When purchasing a speargun, there are a few extras that we recommend you purchase to complete you kit. A float rope and divers float are the 2 main extras. The rope is connected to the gun at the handle and the other end of the rope is to be connected to the float. This will ensure you will not loose your gun by accidentally dropping it, or having a fish steal it! It does happen. A pair of gloves is another item that we recommend you purchase also. Once you have shot your fish, trying to grab it and finish the kill can be very difficult without good gloves. Fish are not only slippery but also have made spikes and teeth. Gloves will prevent cuts and scratches as well as grip.
