Catalina S40 Cylinder with Best Divers Stage Kit

CAT S40-BD-STAGE 01/23
Catalina Cylinders
Starting at: $740.00

We have combined the ever-popular Catalina S40 Aluminium Cylinder with a Best Divers Stage Strap Kit to create a great stage/pony tank setup. The webbing stage strap version offers premium features because the snaps are not sewn in place, they are held in place with special stainless steel keepers. This means the snaps can be changed and their position on the neck plus the length of the tail of the strap can be adjusted to suit the application and diver preference. If you also need a lower profile, because the snaps are not sewn in, the vinyl tubing can be removed.

Catalina S40 Aluminium Cylinder - 5.7 litre (40 cu ft) - 207 bar

Catalina S40 (5.7 litre, 40 cubic ft), 207 bar, Aluminium Cylinder with DIN/K Valve. High-grade aluminium constructed especially to meet Australian safety standards. Negatively buoyant when empty. Rugged enough for rental gear or sport diving.

Because of its highly regarded buoyancy characteristics, the Catalina S40 aluminium cylinder is a popular choice as stage/pony tank(s) by technical divers. For longer, deeper dives they often use these cylinders to carry a Nitrox mix (e.g. EAN50, 50% oxygen) to accelerate their decompression on accent. Some have a second Catalina S40 stage cylinder with 100% oxygen for use on their final decompression stops. The Catalina S40 is a great cylinder for doing this.

We supply a DIN to Yoke convertible, cross-flow valve as standard. The valves are made by Ocean Design. They are strong and reliable being made from really top quality materials. The valve regulator connection incorporates a threaded insert, which means it can equally be used for both INT bracket (Yoke) or DIN connection.

Note: If you require your cylinder unvalved, instead of a convertible DIN/Yoke valve, please specify when you order.

Valve Oxygen Cleaning:
The Catalina aluminium cylinders are supplied Oxygen (O2) clean, suitable for use with up to 100% oxygen. However, if you are planning to use the cylinder with Enriched Air Nitrox (Nitrox) mixes up to 100% oxygen, it's essential for the safety of the cylinder user and the person filling the cylinder that the valve be oxygen cleaned and prepared with special o-rings, seats, and grease designed for exposure to pure oxygen. The cylinder should then be banded with the familiar yellow and green Nitrox band/wrap/sticker, and an Oxygen Clean 'In Test' inspection sticker applied. The Scuba Doctor can do all of this for you as an add-on service.

Best Divers Stage Strap Kits - 140-160 mm

The premium Best Divers Stage Strap Kit for 140 to 160 mm diameter cylinders comes complete with all of the components needed to create a streamlined, secure and DIR compliant mounting of stage and decompression cylinders.

The Best Divers Stage Strap Kit is based on straps made from high tensile strength nylon webbing that resists breakage and splitting, to create a durable and long-lasting foundation for stage rigging. It's also better than round cord because it does not stretch and lies very flat against the side of the cylinder.

A loop to encircle the neck of the valve, together with a stainless steel crown snap, attaches the top of the cylinder to your shoulder strap D-ring. The strap then runs through a piece of removable vinyl tubing that creates a handle for use in the water.

Another stainless steel snap on the tail of the strap is held in place with an all stainless steel, sheathed clamp at the bottom of the cylinder. The sheathing ensures there are no corrosion issues between the stainless steel strap and the cylinder.

With this Best Divers Stage Strap Kit there is no metal to metal contact between the two bolt snaps and the cylinder. Should a bolt snap become seized for whatever reason, this allows the bolt snap to be cut free and removed.

The two cold water, stainless steel bolt snaps feature a large eye, allowing a thick gloved thumb or finger to easily fit inside the eye when in use.

The Best Divers Stage Strap Kit also includes two high-quality stretch band, hose retainers for the storage of hoses against the cylinder. These bands include finger loops to make it easier to stow your hoses.

This kits suits cylinders with a diameter of 140 to 160 mm. This includes Catina S40, plus Faber 5 and 7 litre steel cylinders.

Here at The Scuba Doctor this is how we rig all of our stage cylinders. Rigging a cylinder is this manner is minimal yet secure, providing stream lining and increased safety.
