The Mares Carbon Octopus combines maximum performance with lightness

  • Highly-resistant octopus for demanding divers
  • Second stage case 100% SMC carbon
  • Technology and lightness

An octopus suitable to every need, but not for everyone! The Carbon octopus features the Mesh-Grid system and integrated VAD, which, combined with the Fluid Dynamic Deflector, ensures very easy and natural breathing. And it’s all combined into a carbon second stage for increased thermal conductivity and incredible lightness.

Cold Water
Designing and engineering products for cold water diving requires maximum attention to performance, safety and technical details. Mares creates equipment specific for cold water and ice diving. Rigorous tests ensure top notch performance keeping you comfortable, warm and secure. Even the US Navy has conceded Mares to be the best equipment for extreme conditions.

Max Comfort
Comfort is always one of the primary design elements in Mares equipment. Mares through superior technology continues to research, innovate and upgrade your level of comfort before and during your dive. Equipment marked with Max Comfort bring this quality of comfort to the most up-to-date premier pinnacle.

VAD - Vortex Assisted Design
All Mares second stages offer the unique patented VAD system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in centre that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.

Mesh-Grid
The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the second stage diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in strong currents it eliminates the need for a knob to ‘de-tune’ your air delivery system to stop free flowing: Advanced Technology through basic physics.

Extreme Cold Water
Regulators conceived to guarantee unbeatable performance and reliability in extremely cold water, even ice diving: the CWD kit is equipped on the first stage and the All Metal second stage is entirely coated with fluoropolymer resin finish, even on all key components.

Fluid Dynamic Deflector
This innovative deflector, developed after in-depth study and tests of fluid dynamics, is engineered to receive and properly direct the airflow from the by-pass tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the VAD it delivers a very natural and effortless breathing.

Superflex Hose
Mares developed the new Superflex hose after many years of testing and research. The results achieved far surpass the tests required by EN250, and even the highly stringent additional tests Mares applies for use in extreme conditions. Its exceptional softness and extremely light weight guarantee the maximum freedom of movement.

Carbon Technology
Advanced technology and light weight! The exceptional mechanical resistance and extraordinary light weight make the carbon regulator perfect for meeting the needs of the most demanding divers, for all uses and any requirement. In addition, the high thermal conductivity of carbon guarantees natural breathing, reducing troublesome dry mouth.
