The Apeks XTX50 2nd stage regulator has a larger purge button which is easier for diver use and also offers a dual flow rate purge for different operations. Apeks have also redesigned the diver adjustable controls with improved ergonomics on the venturi lever and the Cracking Resistance Control.
Every aspect of the new Apeks XTX50 has been thought about to bring the whole unit together so that it not only performs exceptionally well but also looks great.
The Apeks XTX50 2nd stage is now manufactured with active protection against infection as all moulded parts are made with an additive that kills MRSA, protects against E-Coli, bacteria and fungi and is also very effective against viruses, mould, yeast and algae.
Imitation is of course flattering and there are copies of Apeks equipment. Apeks regulators are made to high standards in the most advanced factory in the world for regulator design and manufacture with exceptional quality controls. Apeks doesn't make regulators for anyone else, so to ensure you get an authentic Apeks regulator the branding is now clearly visible on both the 1st and 2nd stages of the new Apeks XTX50.
The Apeks XTX50 2nd stage regulator can be converted from a right-handed hose configuration (as supplied from the APEKS factory) to a left-handed one. This feature is known as the Reversible Venturi System (RVS). Changing the regulator to a left-handed configuration is both quick and simple and can be performed by any Apeks Authorised Service Technician, including The Scuba Doctor.
The Apeks XTX50 second stage incorporates the Diver Changeable Exhaust system (DCE) that gives divers the ability to change from the larger exhaust tee (supplied as standard) to a smaller version. The wider exhaust tee is good for minimal bubble interference (essential for underwater photography) and a narrow exhaust tee offers a smaller, more compact regulator (also ideal for use as an octopus).
The Apeks XTX50 2nd stage incorporates a two-shot high strength composite front cover, improving the durability of the most vulnerable part of the demand valve.
The ergonomic Venturi lever of the Apeks XTX50 has been designed to reduce the amount of grit ingress which in turn gives constant, smooth operation.
A new silicone exhaust valve has been used on the Apeks XTX50 regulator improving breathing performance.
A new swivel hose connection is available at an extra cost. This allows the demand valve end of the hose connection to rotate and pivot, providing a more comfortable fit.

Second Stage Apeks XTX40 Octopus Regulator
New XTX pneumatically balanced second stage has left/right reversibility and a Diver Changeable Exhaust (DCE) system. This system gives the diver the ability to change from a large exhaust tee to a smaller exhaust tee. The large tee provides the best exhaust bubble dispersion; the smaller tee is lighter weight and compact. Both exhaust tees are included with the regulator.
