This Kraken Hydra 2500M WRU Underwater Video/Strobe Macro Edition Light has a wide flood, red, and UV blue beams. You can also combine the red and the blue beams for a sort of pinkish purple. This can be used for artistic back or side lighting. There is also the ability of the light to burst quickly to 4000 lumens when triggered by a fibre optic sync cord (not included) from your camera flash, working much like an external strobe.

A Compact, Lightweight, and Versatile Option for Macro and Wide-Angle Video and Photos

There are two reasons we call this light the 'macro edition'. The first being you can sync it to your camera via fibre optic cable. When you do this you have had the light fire in a burst mode. So instead of the constant 2500 lumens, it will burst to 4000 lumens. When shooting macro mode this is enough light to get the shot of your critter with the light instead of using a strobe.

The second macro feature is an optional optical condensing lens you can screw on to the light to condense the beam way down to 20 degrees. The optical condensing lens is great for producing a narrow, high-powered beam that brings out every detail of small, close-to-the-lens subjects.

Dual push-button controls at the top of the light provide on/off, mode switching and intensity adjustment. A lighted battery level indicator surrounds the two buttons. The Hydra light has four colour modes: White, Red, UV Blue and Blue/Red. The White mode provides a natural, wide-angle, 5500K colour lighting, Red can be used as a focusing light, and Blue can be used at night for viewing fluorescence. The Blue/Red mode is achieved by combining the red and blue beams for a sort of pinkish-purple colour that can be used for artistic back or side lighting.

In flood mode, White can be set to 100, 75, 50 and 25 per cent intensity, and the Red, Blue and Blue/Red modes can be set to 100, 50 and 25 per cent intensity. The White, Red and Blue modes are also available in the burst/strobe mode.

To trigger the strobe mode, the Hydra 2500M must be connected to a camera via a fibre optic cable. The fibre optic port is on the underside of the light body. When the camera's flash is triggered, the Hydra will act as a slave strobe and fire a 4000 lumens burst.

The Kraken Hydra 2500M WRU is also remote control ready. All you have to do is purchase the Kraken remote and you can control up to two lights without having to remove your hand from your tray!

The light head is also water-resistant. If you have an accident and flood the light, the head will remain okay. You'll probably have to replace the battery but that is much less expensive than replacing the whole light. This gives you the benefit of being able to easily switch batteries between dives, but also not having to worry about a flood!

The complete kit from Kraken includes the Hydra 2500, battery, charger, spare O-rings, YS mount, 1-inch ball mount, lanyard and padded carry case.
